A Dietitian Who Gets It — Because She Flies Too.

Kylie Viens brings something no other dietitian can offer: the perspective of someone who has sat in the left seat, balanced demanding work with flight training, and lived alongside an international cargo pilot.

My Path

From Clinic to Cockpit — and Everything In Between

2016 — THE FOUNDATION

8 Years in Primary Care

After earning my MS in Nutrition & Dietetics from UAA, I spent nearly eight years in primary care — helping hundreds of patients manage diabetes, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, and weight concerns. These are the exact same conditions that affect pilot FAA medical certifications.

THE REALIZATION

Flight Training Changed Everything

While working full-time in clinic and raising a toddler, I began training for my private pilot certificate — heading from patient appointments to flight lessons, often pumping milk between both. That experience gave me a deep, personal understanding of aviation's demands.

My husband works as an international cargo pilot. Long duty days, irregular meals, time zone changes, limited access to consistent healthy food — I saw firsthand how aviation life made maintaining good nutrition nearly impossible without the right strategies.

That realization led me to create Fly Fit Nutrition — a practice built specifically for the aviation community, with real strategies that work with the realities of the job.

THE GAP

A Hole in Aviation Health Resources

My husband works as an international cargo pilot. Long duty days, irregular meals, time zone changes — I saw firsthand how aviation life made maintaining good nutrition nearly impossible without the right strategies.

TODAY

Fly Fit Nutrition Was Born From That Gap

Today, I work with pilots and aviation professionals to improve key health markers — blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure, and body weight — while building sustainable habits that work with demanding schedules.

When you work with me, you're working with someone who understands both the science of nutrition and the realities of aviation. My goal is simple: help you protect your health, maintain your medical certification, and continue doing what you love.

Beyond the Clinic

A Lifetime of Fueling Performance

Before becoming a dietitian, Kylie played collegiate basketball at UAA and spent a season playing semi-professionally in Australia — experiences that sparked a lifelong passion for nutrition, performance, and fueling the body well.

She's also completed three marathons and three half marathons, and continues to stay active while raising two children and exploring Alaska — often from the air.
